July 10, 2011

Police identified  Robin Nicholson, 52, as the woman who was killed after a vehicle struck her  in the 1500 block of S.E. 22nd.

Shawnee County dispatchers received a call about a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at 8:55 p.m. Police said Monday that Nicholson was attempting to retrieve a dog from the road when she was hit by a boxy, white SUV that sped off westbound on S.E. 22nd.

Nicholson was transported to Stormont-Vail by an ambulance, where she died.

On 7/6/2011 Police were sent at 11:15 a.m. July 6 to the Candlelight Apartments, 617 S.W. Taylor, to check on James Trice’s welfare.

When officers arrived, they found Trice’s body. He had been stabbed in the back numerous times.

February 17, 2011

On 2/12/11 Officers responded at 3:47 a.m. to the 2800 block of S.E. Highland Court in reference to a disturbance.

Officers discovered a man with a gunshot wound on a front porch of a duplex at the Pine Ridge housing units.

The victim was identified as Brian Andrews who was transported to a local hospital. Andrews was later pronounced dead.

On 8/28/10 Officers were called at 11:52 p.m. to a shooting at 3108 S.E. Dupont.

Upon their arrival, officers found a man inside the residence suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was identified as David M. Martinez, 31.

The body of Valerie A. Gladney, 28, was found at 1449 NE Forest, in an isolated area of the city’s Oakland community .

Neighbors called police about 3 a.m. Sunday after hearing gunshots in their area.

On 1/9/10 at 9:15 PM Antonio D. Booker, 29, was shot and killed at 1438 S.W. Van Burenan  in central Topeka.

Officers were called  to the address on a report of a shooting. Officers arriving on the scene found Booker had been mortally wounded. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Several people who were in the apartment at the time of the shooting.

November 15, 2009

Michelle Campbell, 49, shot and killed at 2415 N.E. Thomas in Oakland.  

Campbell died from gunshot wounds she suffered about 8:20 p.m. at the one-story gray and white residence.

Witnesses report that a black male wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt shot into the residence. A person matching that description was seen leaving the area in a light-color mid-size SUV described as a Chevy Tahoe or similar style vehicle.

Officers were called about 4:40 p.m. Saturday to a residence at 918 N.W. Western, after receiving a report of a shooting.

After arriving at the scene, police found Larry Adams Jr., 35, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Adams was taken to Stormont-Vail in serious condition. He died later that evening.
