Crime Stoppers provides a Telephone Number, Web Tips and a Free App "P3tips" to encourage citizens in the community to volunteer vital information helpful to law enforcement agencies to fight against crime.
Crime Stoppers also oversees the Gun Stoppers program. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $500 cash reward to anyone who notifies the tip line of an illegal weapon, and that tip leads to an arrest and/or confiscation of an illegal gun by the Topeka Police Department (TPD) or Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office (SSO). To qualify as an illegal weapon, the firearm must either be possessed illegally and/or illegal on its face.
Callers will remain anonymous and are eligible to receive a cash reward if the information given leads to an arrest or grand jury indictment of a felony offender.
Crime Stoppers relies on a volunteer Board of Directors and tax deductible contributions from the community in order to operate the program.
